Getting older

I turned 29 on Saturday....

....and received an AARP card in the mail at my parent's address:

When I was about 8 years old,  I was very interested in cars and sent mail-in forms to receive brochures from Volvo, Ford, Chevrolet and a number of other car companies.  People from dealers would even call occasionally while I was in school and my parents would have to explain that I was actually a second-grader and wasn't really that interested in purchasing a new Taurus.  I suspect that at the time (knowing that that they wouldn't send me anything if they knew I was a child) I must have written down that the the fictional Tyler 'D' Lloyd was 29 years old, and now, some 21 years later- he's just turned 50, and I'm still waiting to buy the Volvo S70 I've always wanted.  Happy Birthday- to both of us.

Trip planning

Just finishing plans for our trip to Arkansas this summer.  Once again, we've plotted a course that doesn't involve driving through Kansas-  but while bidding for a hotel in the Kansas City area on priceline.com, we were placed in a hotel on the other side of the border, so we'll have to put aside our snobbery just long enough to spend one night there along the way....

Catching up

Sort of just realized how long it's been since we posted anything here....  So until we come up with something more interesting to share, here's some proof that we're all still alive and occasionally even take the kids out to do something fun- iPhone pictures of last month's trip to the Children's Museum downtown:
